On May 23, 1885 Zubov Nikolay Nikolaevich was born. This is a Russian and a Soviet naval officer, an oceanologist, a polar researcher. Zubov was one of the first who developed a problem of ice forecasts in the Arctic seas. He was one of popular writers and historians of science. His works about development of the Arctic, the theory of drift of continents, about the Russian seafarers are devoted to this subject.
