Во время Отечественной войны 1812 года Дохтуров командовал 6-м пехотным корпусом, руководил обороной Смоленска от французов. В сражении под Малоярославцем Дохтуров 7 часов (до подхода помощи) сдерживал сильнейший напор французов. За этот бой был награждён орденом Св. Георгия 2-го класса, так как в общей сложности мужественно держал оборону 36 часов. Под Бородином командовал сначала центром русской армии, а потом левым крылом.
On September 12, 1759 Dochturov Dmitry Sergeyevich was born. This is the Russian military leader, the general of the Russian army. During Great war in 1812 Dochturov ordered the 6th infantry case, he directed defense of Smolensk against French. In battle near Maloyaroslavets he resisted the strongest pressure of French army during 7 hours (before a help could come). For this fight he was awarded the order of Saint George of the 2nd class. He could held fort defence for 36 hours. Near Borodino he ordered the center of the Russian army, and then the left flank.
