До изобретения привычной нам мочалки для мытья тела, древние люди использовали различные природные материалы: речной песок, золу, бронзовые и деревянные лопатки. Более-менее современную мочалку изобрели французские парфюмеры, а поролоновые мочалки появились в 1930-х годах. Однако, как говорят ученых, поролоновые мочалки не очень хорошо справляются со своей задачей по очистки кожи от грязи. Они только создают много пены.
